iOS 9's public beta available to download

The iOS 9 beta is now available to download and test ahead of its full release in September.

This gives you a chance to go hands-on with the upcoming OS release, provide feedback, and report bugs so that its launch in September goes smoothly.

Of course, as it’s a beta, you may find that some functions and features don’t work as expected. These are subject to change ahead of the OS’ final release. And the beta will receive periodic updates throughout the testing phase.

You can sign up for the iOS 9 beta from Apple’s Beta Software Program website. You have to sign in with your Apple ID and agree to the terms of service. Then select “enroll your iOS device" on the "Getting Started" section.

It’s advised to back up your current iOS data. Then hit "Download profile", where you'll be prompted to install beta software. Once that’s done, go to Settings > General > Software Update to try it out for yourself.

iOS 9 implements the News app, which draws content from respected news sources and publications to collate stories relevant to you, and updates other apps. It also adds multi-tasking features like Split View and Slide Over.

iOS 9 will be available to everyone in September.
