Dragon Age Inquisition multiplayer gets more challenging

Dragon Age Inquisition was easily one of the best RPGs of 2014 and while it may have gotten a bit lost in the acclaim surrounding genre-rival The Witcher 3, developers Bioware have actually been doing a great job of keeping it up to date with new content and features.

The latest patch - they're up to number 8 - brings a whole new area to the multiplayer, dubbed the Proving Grounds. Here you'll get an introduction to the mechanics of the mode and be put in a team with some AI companions and pitted against low level enemies. It's a good way to get to grips with the basics, and you'll be able to head back to the proving gounds any time you like.

If you're rather more seasoned, or just really like a challenge, Bioware has also added an all new difficulty level. It's called Nightmare and its designed to be the ultimate test of skill for those who have waltzed through the single player and trounced all comers in the multiplayer portion. In a blog post they're very clear that it's going to be really, really tough!

Since releasing in November 2014 to critical acclaim, Inquisition has received a large number of updates as well as a couple of pieces of DLC. Recently Bioware announced that more downloadable content was on the way but would only be available to players on PS4 and Xbox One. This gives the developers a chance to work with more advanced elements of the game and they also released software to allow you to port over a save game from the Xbox 360 or PS3. Of course you still have to buy a next gen console and the game again if you want to play the new DLC...
