Twitter wants to celebrate your birthday

Twitter now lets users enter their birthdate, and will be showered with animated balloons when that day rolls around.

If you give Twitter this extra information, you have control over whether it’s public knowledge or not. You can set the information to be public, for your followers, or for your eyes only.

Of course, this new feature has an added benefit for the micro-blogging site. The extra information it gets from users will let it better determine what ads to show you.
