VIDEO A Series of Unfortunate Events TV show teaser is full of creepy clues

Lemony Snicket (the pen name of author Daniel Handler) wrote 13 main books all telling A Series of Unfortunate Events in the lives of the Baudelaire children. They're wry and witty books for kids of all ages, with some very nasty events and a wonderful sense of imagination. And they're coming to a small screen soon.

The first teaser for A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix has been released. And it looks absolutely incredible.

The raw mix of live action footage with a stop-motion edge is perfect for the visual style of the piece, and there are so many easter eggs to be found for fans of the books. The show has yet to be officially announced by Netflix but Handler is said to be more deeply involved this time, likely with the writing and overall feel of the series.

This all follows on from the 2004 feature starring Jim Carrey, which was widely panned by fans of the books. We actually thought it was a lot of fun, and certainly one of the darker and more gorgeous kid-friendly films of the last couple of decades. Remember how beautiful it was?

Ok so it was also a little bit too daft, thanks to Carrey. The early rumours are suggesting that this series will more extensively cover the entirety of the 13 books by Handler and that could even mean each book gets its own episode.

Time will tell, we're going to be waiting a while for this.
