Creed trailer - Rocky Reborn

Sylvester Stallone has been pretty canny at keeping the Rocky series alive, with a decent 2006 rejuvenation of the franchise he birthed in 1976. And he's at it again for Creed.

It's a new story which focusses on the son of Apollo Creed, one of Rocky Balboa's greatest opponents in the ring, originally played by Carl Weathers. His son is (quite naturally) called Adonis and he's a young boxer with a thirst for glory. And he wants to get to the top with some help from Rocky himself.

Sly returns, Michael B. Jordan is Adonis and the director Fruitvale Station Ryan Coogler is on as writer and helmer. Here's the first trailer for Creed.

It's looking pretty interesting. Coogler is a great choice as director and Jordan is a real up and comer. And it's good to see that Sly is pushing himself away from the spotlight on this one, potentially creating a film which is much closer to the 1976 original than the overblown sequel. And let's not forget that $1 million movie made over $200 million at the box office.

Hopes are high for this one.

Creed is in cinemas in November 2015.
