Jurassic World still top at the box office against Ted and Pixar
That was the fate of both Pixar's Inside Out and Universal's Ted 2 this past weekend in the US. Ted 2 debuted to a surprisingly low $39.2 million (the original did 54.4 back in 2012) and Inside Out had a good second weekend out with $52.1 million. But those figures weren't enough to take on JW at a massive $54.2 million.
Those figures notched up a new record for the film as it becomes the fastest ever to cross the $500 million mark in the United States. It achieved the record in 17 days, with previous title holder The Avengers managing it in 23.
That's not all the Jurassic news for this week, the film is also continuting a steady run around the world, taking in a frankly staggering $737.5 million in 66 territories. That includes over $200 million just in China and a very solid $76.1 in Ireland and the UK. Add these figures together and the film has already managed to score more than $1.2 billion at the box office. That puts it in the top 10 movies of all time, between Return of the King and Transformers: Dark of the Moon. And it's not done yet.
