The 1996 movie Scream was all about taking on the tired tropes of the slasher sub-genre so the idea of a TV series remake is both kind of fitting and also pretty much misses the point of what the film was doing.

Regardless, MTV has done it - also missing the point by making something inherently R-rated into something for network audiences. The first 8 minutes have been released online for all to see so make your own judgements.
