The Terminator series is about to get some serious expansion in the form of a sequel/reboot thing called Genisys - which is looking just batty enough to be entertaining. But even if it isn't a hit it will never erase the amazing work done by James Cameron on the 1984 original and its blockbuster sequel launched in 1991.
With a massive budget and a keen reworking of the first film, plus then groundbreaking special effects, it was the very definition of high impact summer far. And the world went predicatably crazy for the film 24 years ago, spending almost $520 million in cinemas before forking out more for the VHS release, the toys and the happy meals.
