Inherent Vice's Katherine Waterston joins Eddie Redmayne in Fantastic Beasts

Katherine Waterston has come on board to play the pivotal role of Tina - a witch plying her trade in America. The 35 year old Brit was absolutely captivating in Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice as the character of Shasta, who kicks off the whole insane adventure. She also had a part on Boardwalk Empire and will appear n the upcoming Steve Jobs opposite Michael Fassbender.

Fantastic Beasts is a story expanded from a textbook crafted for the Harry Potter universe which is all about a magizoologist - a person who finds magical creatures, naturally - and his adventures in tracking down these beasts. Rowling wrote the screenplay herself, and it seems like Warner Bros is planning to position it as an all-new trilogy, albeit one which is unlikely to intersect with Harry Potter for the most part.
