EA debuts Star Wars: Battlefront and Mass Effect: Andromeda at E3

This year’s Electronic Arts conference at E3 was always likely to be the most exciting in recent memory. And so it proved to be…EA started strong with the announcement of Mass Effect: Andromeda and never let up.

EA released a cinematic trailer for the latest in the Mass Effect series, which is subtitled Andromeda. It sees the return of the Mako, which looks more mobile, and players will have a jetpack of sorts to get around quicker. Andromeda is described as a “new adventure, taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy." It will be released during holiday 2016.

Star Wars fans were excited by the reveal of Star Wars: Battlefront in April. But there was also some skepticism. EA may have quelled that with not just one, but two trailers from the upcoming game. One trailer shows off the co-operative gameplay element, which sees players fending off waves of surprisingly accurate stormtroopers.

But it’s the multiplayer gameplay video that had us on the edge of our seats. It has everything you could want from a game like this. And it looks like some lucky person will get to control Darth Vader, complete with Force Choke, or Luke Skywalker. Star Wars: Battlefront will be released on November 17th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

EA also revealed the latest in the Need for Speed franchise, which doesn’t bear a subtitle. It offers “the richest customisation ever seen," and the trailer certainly hints at this. There are five ways to play - Speed, Style, Build, Crew, and Outlaw. It’s just a question of how you will be remembered.

Another title making a return in the near future is Mirror’s Edge. The Mirror’s Edge Catalyst trailer explores Faith’s past. Here we see how she became the free runner that we know and love. And we see why she does what she does. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be released on February 26th, 2016 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Naturally, EA’s suite of sports titles made an appearance. The most interesting to audiences on this side of the world is FIFA 16. After recent events in world football, it’s worth remembering why it’s loved. And that’s what this trailer tries to do, as Pele talks about the beautiful game. FIFA 16 will be released this fall on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
