Apple highlights the best iOS apps

Apple has always appreciated the value of apps. After all, “There’s an app for that,” was one of its most prominent advertising messages for a while.

It was only right that Apple took the time to acknowledge developers at WWDC as it highlighted the best third-party iOS and Mac apps as part of its annual Apple Design Awards. Apple made sure to mention some apps that are available for the Apple Watch, which comes as no surprise considering how it's trying to get the wearable to take off.

In total, Apple recognised 12 apps for their creativity, design, functionality and so on. The list includes Shadowmatic, Metamorphabet, Robinhood, Affinity Designer, Crossy Road, Fantastical 2, Workflow, Does Not Commute, Vainglory, and Pacemaker.

Apple also highlighted student winners for the Elementary Minute and jump-O apps.
