Microsoft announces 1TB Xbox One and new controller

Amazon may have spoiled the surprise by listing the 2015 Xbox One model, but Microsoft has gone ahead with the announcement anyways. It is now shipping a 1TB Xbox One console.

Not only are gamers getting access to more on-board storage, twice the amount that came with the original Xbox One in fact, but they can expand it further with an external USB 3.0 drive.

Microsoft says that the revamped console will cost £350/$400. Meanwhile, the price of the 500GB Xbox One is being reduced to £300/$350 permanently.

There’s also a new controller, which includes a 3.5mm headset jack. This means that you can plug in any headphones rather than sticking with Microsoft’s own or needing an adaptor. Microsoft also says that the pad’s bumpers have been "fine-tuned".

The new Xbox One is now available, while the new controller will be available to buy on its own from "late summer".
