Facebook is still Ireland's most popular social network
A survey by Ipsos MRBI found that 60% of Irish people had Facebook accounts between March and May, but that’s down three percentage points on the quarter to February. Those who do have an account are using it slightly more.
The survey found that 72% of people with an account log on every day. That’s up from the 70% recorded in the last survey.
Twitter is still in second place, but it’s a long way off matching Facebook’s numbers. 26% of Irish people have an account, down two percentage points on the last survey. The survey also found that just 35% of Irish Twitter users log on every day.
LinkedIn rounds out the top three with 24% of those surveyed holding an account. And Google Plus managed to up its numbers slightly with 23% saying that they have an account.
Facebook may also be pleased with the finding that Instagram is used by 18% of the population. It will certainly be happy to see that Facebook Messenger is now tied as the most popular social messaging app. Facebook Messenger is used by 43% of respondents.
