Watch deleted footage from Tomorrowland which explains some cool backstory
Bird's comments in interviews suggest that he trimmed a fair amount of material, particularly from the early portions of the film, like taking out all the references to Disneyland. A little more set up would actually have helped quite a bit with the later part of the film, and now we can see one sequence which we think definitely should have been left in. Pixar created the below animation which would have played near the start of the film and introduced a little more about Tomorrowland - what it was for and who set it up. Here's the video.
