Microsoft’s digital assistant Cortana will be making her way to Android and iOS devices in the near future.

Cortana making the leap to Android and iOS

She will soon be available to download on the Google Play Store and App Store. This marks the first time that a key virtual assistant program has been ported to another OS. The Phone Companion app on PC will make it easier to download the Cortana app.The Cortana app on Android and iOS devices will have most of the functionality of the assistant on PC or Windows Phones. She can remind you to pick up things from the grocery store, track flights, and even take notes that appear in Cortana’s Notebook on all your devices. There are some things that Cortana won’t be able to do on rival operating systems. Toggling settings or opening apps won’t initially be available in the Cortana companions for those platforms, and you won’t be able to call upon her by simply saying “Hey Cortana.”That’s because these features require access to the system that aren’t currently possible with iOS or Android. The Cortana companion app will be released on Android phones at the end of June and will make its way to iPhones later this year.
