Microsoft tipped to acquire BlackBerry
BlackBerry returned to profitability in the fourth quarter of 2014, which has roused the interest of some of the industry’s big names.Industry sources say that Xiaomi Technology, Lenovo and Huawei are among those interested in taking over. These companies may, however, have some trouble getting through regulatory agencies in the US and Europe.Microsoft has apparently commissioned investment companies to evaluate the possibility of taking over BlackBerry. Its acquisition of Nokia is yet to pay off substantially, but it apparently believes that it could strengthen its mobile technology division and get hold of some patents.Nothing has been confirmed just yet. And BlackBerry has often been tipped to be ripe for acquisition, yet it hasn’t happened yet. So take these reports with a pinch of salt for now.
