Early Man will be another stop-motion project, telling the story of prehistoric life. The central character will be called Doug and he’ll have a faithful pet wild boar called Hog Nobs. The story will see him trying to save his community from destruction. The first teaser image cleverly references other Aardman productions, including Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, and Chicken Run.Early Man will be directed by Nick Park, his first directorial project since Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which won the Oscar for Best Animation in 2006.Aardman fans may remember that the studio was supposed to work on a stop motion animation in 2005 called Crood Awakening, which later became The Croods. Aardman and DreamWorks parted ways on the project in 2007. Perhaps Aardman will implement some of its ideas intended for that project into Early Man.
