Konami officially cancels Silent Hills

Guillermo del Toro and actor Norman Reedus said it, but now it’s official. Konami has ceased development of the Silent Hills game.

Konami officially cancels Silent Hills

The developer issued a statement to announce Silent Hills’ cancellation. Interestingly, Konami said that it will do more titles in the Silent Hill series. Its statement read, ā€œKonami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic 'Silent Hills' project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.ā€Up to now, Konami was being quite cagey. It removed the image of Norman Reedus from the official website and will remove P.T. from the PlayStation Store on Wednesday. Earlier today, it released a Q&A that didn’t fully address concerns. Obviously the developer felt that it had to be 100% transparent at some stage. Many will be disappointed by Silent Hills’ eventual cancelation. P.T., the "playable teaser" for the game, was absolutely terrifying. It could have been the shot in the arm that mainstream horror games needed. Now we have to wait and see where the Silent Hill series will go from here. In Short: Silent Hills has been officially cancelled by Konami. We're guessing Guillermo del Toro and Norman Reedus forced Konami's hand.
