Jawbone launches trio of Up wearables

The Up2 is the replacement for 2013’s Up24. It’s lighter and thinner than the older Jawbone band, and has a more stylish frame. Functionally, the Jawbone Up2 is pretty similar to the Jawbone Up24. The Jawbone Up2 is available from today in North America with a retail price of $99. It will be released internationally “later this year.”With the slightly higher price tag of $179, the Up3 adds heart rate tracking. But it wants to stand out from the huge selection of heart rate trackers out there. It measures bio-impedance using metal contacts on the inside, technology designed by BodyMedia, which it bought in 2013. The Up3 is capable of tracking heart rate, ambient and skin temperature, galvanic skin response, and may add stress measurement in the future. Finally, the Up4 adds NFC payments, making it the first pure fitness wearable with mobile payment capabilities. Otherwise it’s essentially the same device as the Up3, although it will cost you an additional $20 to have the freedom to pay via NFC. The Up4 is expected to be released some time this summer. In Short: Jawbone today announced a variety of new Up wearables with several different features and price points. They will be released between now and the summer.
