You can play Mortal Kombat X DLC characters without paying

Mortal Kombat X will be released this week, complete with a slew of characters that you will have to pay for. However, you will be able to sample these characters through the Challenge Towers mode.

Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios Ed Boon Challenge Towers include Premiere Tower challenges. These feature characters only available as downloadable content. But the good news is that you don’t have to part with more money to be able to take on these challenges and play as the locked characters.It’s not the same thing as unlocking the characters though. You still won’t be able to get access to them in other game modes. Instead, these challenges give you a sample of what it’s like to play as a particular character. The team at NetherRealm is clearly hoping to whet your appetite and make it more appealing to spend more on Mortal Kombat X.Mortal Kombat X’s downloadable characters include Predator, Jason Voorhees (from Friday the 13th), Tremor (from Mortal Kombat: Special Forces), and Tanya (from Mortal Kombat 4). There is also a character skin for Jax based on the likeness of actor Carl Weathers from the first Predator film. Goro is a pre-order bonus from select retailers, but is likely to be available to purchase later.
