Tomb Raider reboot is most successful title in franchise's history
Head of studio at Crystal Dynamics, Darrell Gallagher, explained that the reboot struck a chord with players. He said, “Tomb Raider ignited and expanded the fan base, pushing the series to a new level. The game’s incredible sales success reflects the passionate response of players. Our studio is proud of what we accomplished with the game.”Tomb Raider was first released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in March, 2013 before then making its way to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Mac in 2014.The title’s success means that the future looks bright for the franchise. Crystal Dynamics is currently working on a sequel, titled “Rise of the Tomb Raider.” The game will, according to senior art director Brian Horton, tell "the next chapter of [Lara's] development.” After the events of the reboot, she can’t go back to the way she was. We got a glimpse of that in the E3 2014 presentation.Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released during 2015’s holiday season exclusively on Xbox consoles.
