Forget about the large scale pyrotechnics for a moment and consider that every angle has to be staged and lit, every wound created and dressed by the makeup department. Physical special effects have to be crafted and work on the day, costumes have to be created which serve the scene and also allow the performers to do their work. And then, on top of the demands of acting for a camera the actors are required to learn and perform complicated and physically complex choreography, often multiple times! It's no wonder that only certain filmmakers are adept at bringing great action to life and that high quality action films are few and far between.If you want to get a better idea of what it takes to bring action scenes to your cinema screen, you should definitely come along to Scene on the Square on Saturday the 14th of March 2015.
