Mini Review - HTC 8S
The 8S from HTC marks the companies return to the Windows Phone OS after an Android foray in the HTC One.
It also sees the HTC debut of the fabulously slick and clean Windows Phone 8, meaning you’ll have all the benefits of Microsoft’s latest mobile OS out of the box. The 120 x 63 mm body shares a familiar square design with most smartphones these days, with a two tone shell that helps to set it a little apart from the crowd.
The 4 inch display won’t measure up to high end handsets but does its job admirably, powered by a decent processor and RAM. One possible issue is the lack of on board storage, at just 4GB, but that can easily be supplemented by an SD card.
Windows Phone 8 is already grabbing a lot of attention for its intuitive tiled interface which rivals Apple’s iOS for accessibility. Live tiles display updates as you scroll through the home screen and the social media connectivity is unrivalled. And it all runs incredibly smoothly, even without a fancy quad core chip.
Other features include a decent 5MP camera (with a solid physical shutter release) and Beats audio for your tunes. IF you’re interested in trying out Windows Phone 8, the HTC 8S is a worthy entry point.
