Pebble announces steel version of Time watch
The Pebble Time Steel is a premium all-metal version of Pebble’s colourful smartwatch. It is made from stainless steel and is available in silver, black and gold finishes. It is about 1mm thicker than the Time, but also boasts a battery life of 10 days instead of 7. It is water resistant, but you should be aware that the leather strap should not be submerged in water.Pebble also revealed that developers will be able to create “smartstraps” for the watch. Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky suggested that these straps could add new functionality. He said that you may see GPS straps, ones with a heart rate monitor, or perhaps even a battery strap that could extend the wearable’s battery life even further.When you buy the Pebble Time Steel, you will get two straps: a stainless steel band along with a leather one. If you’ve already backed the Pebble Time and want to upgrade to the Pebble Time Steel, you can do so by upping your pledge.The Kickstarter price for the Time Steel is $250, while the final retail price will be $299.
