What’s your story? Young people encouraged to take part in internet safety competition

2015 will be the 12th year of the event with this year’s theme being “Let’s create a better internet together.”
To coincide, security software firm Trend Micro have launched a new competition to encourage young people to share their online stories to help teach others about the dangers the internet can bring.
“What’s Your Story?” is a competition calling young film makers and artists to create a video or poster that will teach those going on the internet for the first time about online safety
“Giving young people a voice to express themselves on Internet safety is at the heart of the ‘what’s your story’ competition”, says Avril Ronan, Global Program Manager for Internet Safety at Trend Micro EMEA.
“The competition is a unique opportunity for young people to tell us how they can make the Internet a better place for themselves and everyone else.
The competition is open to young people from the age of seven upwards and is split into schools and individual categories. There is also an added incentive of cash prizes as competition awards up to €7000 in prizes.
The finalists will be judged by a panel of experts in the fields of Internet safety, media literacy, and technology. The judging panel will include representatives from Trend Micro as well as representatives from Facebook, Twitter, Smart Futures, Yahoo! Safely, Discover Science Festival and Dr Brian O’Neill of EU Kids Online.
