Is the Silent Hills reveal the highlight of Gamescom?

Teaser trailers, whispers, hints and intrigue. Any great launch or announcement needs a healthy dash of them all.

This week at Gamescom, that’s been around something called “PT” which was teased with a terrifying video by Sony during their PlayStation press conference.

Players were directed to the PlayStation Store, where the interactive, playable trailer was waiting for them. It was utterly spooky.

Make it all the way through and the reward was quite something.

That’s right, a brand new Silent Hill. But that’s arguably not the most exciting thing about the announcement – the participation of Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro make this game a very big deal.

Then of course there’s the presence of Norman Reedus – best known as Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead.

We have no word on a release date or more details yet, but what we’ve seen so far is enough to get the pulses racing.

Silent Hills could be the best thing we’ve seen at Gamescom. It’s definitely been the most attention-grabbing.
