Nine applications for digital TV trial

NINE companies have applied to run the two-year digital terrestrial television (DTT) trial.

Among the bidders, which will be able to offer viewers higher quality pictures and more channels at no extra costs, are Denis O’Brien’s Communicorp Group and a joint bid by Eircom and RTÉ.

The other applicants for the trial include Magnet Networks, Sky, BT Ireland, Channel 6 Television, USP Ireland TVONE Broadband Media, Chellomedia Services.
