Minister launches broadband paper

NOEL DEMPSEY, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, has launched a discussion paper on broadband demand in Ireland.

Minister Dempsey said: “This paper is an opportunity to assess the demand side of the broadband market in Ireland.”

There were an estimated 250,000 broadband subscribers in Ireland at the end of 2005. This represents growth of almost 120,000 subscribers, or 90%, during the year.
