Wholesale electricity prices have fallen more than 75% from their peak three years ago, according to new data from the Central Statistics Office.Â
The CSO wholesale price index showed wholesale electricity prices fell 12.2% in June 2025, and were 11.6% lower than in 2024. The prices have fallen by 75.4% when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022.
The price index for all energy fuels rose 0.2% in June 2025 but was down by 9.8% in the year since June 2024. The overall energy products index was down 9% since May 2025 and was 11.1% lower when compared with June 2024.
Overall, the wholesale price index showed some of the most notable changes in producer prices for food over the 12 months to June 2025 where dairy products rose 22%. Meat and meat products rose 6.4% while vegetables and animal oils and Fats fell 16.2%.
“Wholesale price inflation showed a decrease in June 2025 with a 2.0% decline in the overall producer price index for manufacturing industries in the month," said CSO statistician in the prices division Deirdre Toher.
"The price index for export sales was down by 2.3% since May 2025, while the index for home sales was down by 0.2% in the month."
Wholesale prices for construction products were unchanged in the month to June 2025 but rose by 0.7% in the 12 months since June 2024.
Other producer price changes in the year to June 2025 included Chemicals & Chemical Products (+17.3%), Furniture (+2.7%), Beverages (-4.0%), Mining & Quarrying (-3.7%), and Rubber & Plastic Products (-3.1%).Â
