Traveller numbers from Ireland to the US recover in April

Just under 72,500 people travelled to the US from Ireland during April.

The number of people travelling to the US from Ireland shot back up during April to just under 72,500, following a major slump during March, new data from the US International Trade Administration shows.

This is a 38.5% increase compared to the same month in 2024, when 52,525 people travelled from Ireland to the US.

March figures saw a significant slump year-on-year — down from 67,654 in 2024 to 48,748.

The large changes in visitor numbers from Ireland to the US during these two months could be explained by changes to the dates of the Easter holidays. During 2024, the holidays took place during March, while this year they took place in April.

During the first four months of the year, 205,748 Irish people travelled to the US compared to the 207,032 during the same period in 2024.

In terms of overall travellers from Europe heading to the US, there was an increase of 8.4% to 1.52 million during April. This is compared to a 14.3% decrease during March.
