A Digital Euro is coming. What will it mean for businesses and consumers?

A digital version of euro notes and coins which can be used free of charge for making everyday payments is on its way

The digital euro would be usable across a range of digital payment devices, including mobile phones, smartwatches and tablets, and could be integrated with existing apps such as your bank account.

If all goes according to plan, the digital euro will be with us within the next two years.
