Tax specialists have recommended that Finance Minister Michael McGrath support SMEs by abolishing the lower employer PRSI rate of 8.8% on weekly earnings up to €441 in the budget.

The measure is one of many included in a pre-budget submission by professional services firm PwC that is targeted towards SMEs following comments from the budgetary watchdog Ifac that Ireland is too dependent on multinationals.
