Construction and engineering firm Sisk has appointed Brian Comaskey as managing director of its Ireland East business unit and Diarmuid O’Sullivan as MD of its newly established Sisk Energy Business Unit.

The new Energy Business Unit will re-establish and grow Sisk’s presence in a sector where the firm has previously delivered more than €1bn in recent years. Diarmuid will report to Leo Martin, COO of the Sisk Infrastructure division.

Paul Brown, CEO of Sisk, said: “I wish Diarmuid and Brian well in their new roles. They will play a key part in helping us deliver on our growth strategy.”

Based in Dublin, Brian Comaskey will report to Steven McGee, chief operating officer (COO) for the Sisk Construction division.

Brian first joined Sisk in 2004 as an engineer, working on a range of Dublin city centre projects across the residential and commercial sectors. He subsequently progressed to contracts manager, project director and since 2022, regional director.

Brian has led the delivery of many of Sisk’s flagship projects across a range of sectors including residential, commercial and healthcare.

“I can see great opportunity for us to grow and develop further in the residential and commercial space in Dublin and play a key role in the overall company strategy in healthcare, energy and infrastructure. I’m looking forward to continuing to build upon existing and new client relationships,” said Brian.

To date, Diarmuid O’Sullivan has led the delivery of complex mission critical programmes for Sisk across Ireland, Europe and Africa for major international clients. He previously led the firm’s data centre business and played a pivotal role in establishing and growing its capability in Ireland and subsequently across Europe.

In his new role, Diarmuid will work closely with the senior leadership teams in each of Sisk’s divisions, along with its subsidiary companies Farrans and Sensori, working with industry design and supply chain partners.

Diarmuid said: “I am honoured to be celebrating 34 years with Sisk, starting out in 1992 as a graduate engineer and progressing through a range of roles to director for Ireland and Europe in 2020. The move towards cleaner and more secure energy is creating exciting opportunities for our new unit. I am delighted to be taking on this new challenge.”

Sisk provides construction services with extensive operations across Ireland, the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. The firm employs 3,000 people.
