Limerick's H&MV to create 1,000 US jobs

New roles are planned over the next five years as company expands in the US amid surging demand for data centres

Limerick’s high-voltage engineering specialist H&MV Engineering has established its North America headquarters in Dallas as it plans to create 1,000 US jobs on the back of a surging demand for data centres and grid investments.

H&MV designs, builds and energises high-voltage substations and grid connections for large technology companies, utilities and energy developers, and was recently valued at €1.4bn.

The company already employs 1,900 people across 20 international offices in Ireland, the UK, Europe, the US and Asia. H&MV has more than 24GW of projects in design and construction.

The 1,000 new roles are planned over the next five years as it expands in the US, building on its existing Dallas presence and the acquisition of Texas-based Cooke Power Services earlier this year.

The company has been expanding rapidly. Revenues have jumped from €61m in 2020 to more than €1bn today. Based in Castletroy, H&MV has a €2bn order book, a €16bn pipeline and the company is targeting revenues of €3bn.

Last month, it secured fresh funding from existing investor Exponent to finance its international expansion, which valued the company at €1.4bn.

That is exactly where H&MV specialises, and why we see the US as a major part of our next phase of growth.” 

H&MV has multiple projects in design and construction across the US, ranging from 138kV to 345kV, with Texas and Louisiana its most active markets.

Ken Gilmartin, executive vice-president US, said, “Dallas is the right base for the next stage of our US growth. It puts us close to customers and major growth markets, with access to a deep pool of engineering and construction talent. We’re building the team and capabilities here to deliver complex power infrastructure at scale across the US.”
