Shannon-based chemical provider Chemical Solutions Group (CSG) has acquired UK-based distribution specialist Resource Chemicals as it looks to build a meaningful presence in the UK.
Resource Chemicals is a privately-owned chemical distributor which sources, stores, manages and transports chemicals for a diverse customer base across multiple industries.
Its acquisition forms part of CSG’s broader plan to develop a stronger, more capable UK platform through investment and acquisitions. CSG has already invested in UK infrastructure through GI Chemical Solutions and its Immingham base.
Established in 1981, CSG is the parent company and comprises of Chemifloc, GI Chemicals Ireland, GI Chemical Solutions UK, and Chemilab. Irish-owned, it operates Ireland’s largest self-owned chemical tanker fleet, supported by its manufacturing plant in Shannon, and significant storage capacity in Foynes and Immingham in the UK.
The group currently employs 100 people with expertise across potable water, wastewater, environmental and hygiene applications, operating across Ireland and the UK.
CSG chief executive Kevin Quinn said: “In 2025, we launched a distribution hub in the UK specialising in bulk chemicals, namely caustic, through our GI Chemicals brand. This was always a first step, and our long-term ambition is to build a meaningful presence in the UK and to continue to expand across Ireland, offering customers a full suite of services and products.
"Resource Chemicals is a well-respected brand in the UK market and by working together we can deliver on the significant opportunity for our solutions within the UK. Their product portfolio dovetails very well with CSG, and they are active in our target segments — water, environment and hygiene.”
Resource Chemicals has annual sales of €29m, with more than 200 customers. CSG said the acquisition would have no negative impact on current customers or distributors.
Nicola Bradley, managing director of Resource Chemicals, said: "This is an exciting next chapter for Resource Chemicals. CSG shares our values, our customer focus and our commitment to quality and service. Becoming part of the group gives us the scale and support to grow the business further, while maintaining the relationships and standards that our customers rely on."
