McCarthy to lead estate agency Knight Frank's new Cork office
David McCarthy, head of Knight Frank's new Cork office.
David McCarthy has been appointed as head of the new Cork office of estate agents Knight Frank, located at No6 Lapps Quay.
This appointment follows Knight Frank’s recent integration into the Sherry FitzGerald Group. The Lapps Quay office has long been home to Sherry FitzGerald. It will now house both brands, operating side by side.
Sherry FitzGerald, Ireland’s largest estate agency, announced just a few weeks ago that it had acquired the international Knight Frank brand for an undisclosed sum.
David McCarthy said: “Our multi-disciplinary team provides agency services specialising in the sale and letting of all types of commercial properties. We also provide professional services to include valuations and lease advisory.
“Bringing a global brand like Knight Frank here allows us to connect local opportunities with international capital and expertise. Importantly, while the brand is new, the team on the ground remains the same — so our clients will continue to receive the same high quality trusted service, now enhanced by a truly global platform.
“Declan O’ Reilly and James Meagher have established a dynamic team in Dublin, who are extremely highly regarded in the industry, and we look forward to collaborating with them in our aim to grow the business in the Munster region."
David brings 19 years of Irish property sector experience to his role leading Knight Frank’s first office in Cork. He joined Sherry FitzGerald Commercial in August 2024 and had previously worked in Lisney’s Cork office for over 17 years.
David started out as an estate agent with auctioneers O’Mahony Walsh, in Ballincollig, Co Cork. He holds a BSc in Real Estate from Limerick Institute of Technology.
Also part of the Cork team is Amanda Isherood, associate director. Amanda is a chartered Surveyor and RICS-registered valuer with ten years’ commercial property experience.
The team in Cork will work with Sherry FitzGerald’s professional services team, led by Emmett Page.
Globally, Knight Frank operates from 487 offices across 53 territories. Together, Knight Frank and Sherry FitzGerald offer a full suite of services, from offices and land developments to residential and farm sales.
While the office will transition to the Knight Frank brand for commercial services, the Cork-based team remains unchanged. Clients will work with the same people they know and trust, with local expertise now enhanced by Knight Frank’s global platform.
This development brings together Sherry Fitz’s experienced Cork team with the added reach of Knight Frank’s international network.
The company says that clients will benefit from deeper market insight, broader investor and occupier reach, and access to specialist expertise across all sectors of commercial property.
Sherry FitzGerald will continue to operate from Lapps Quay with a focus on the residential market, including residential sales, new homes and development land.
