Cork-based animal feed additive manufacturer Inform Nutrition Ireland has announced a €5m capital investment in its operations as it seeks to nearly double its production capacity and grow turnover to €100m.
The company was founded in 1986 in White’s Cross, Cork, by Martin Beirne and the late Denis Twomey. It produces vitamin and mineral premixes and feed additives for a range of farmland animals, including cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, and horses.
It said the €5m investment will increase annual production capacity from 35,000 tonnes to 60,000 tonnes as well as accelerate growth and future-proof the company for the decades ahead.
Alongside infrastructure and technology upgrades, the investment includes a focus on workforce development, with new roles and upskilling programmes across the business.
The investment represents the latest phase of a multi-million euro programme for the company as it looks to scale production, deepen its technical leadership, as well as expand its footprint at home and internationally.
The company said the funding will support major upgrades to its manufacturing campus, including in advanced automation, enhanced blending systems and a new bulk out loading facility, significantly increasing output and efficiency while reducing turnaround times during peak seasonal demand.
Last year, the company also announced three senior appointments to support this next phase of expansion by bringing in Michael Slattery as commercial director, Anthony Heavey as operations manager, and Philippe Mordier as procurement manager.
Chief executive of Inform Nutrition William Twomey, son of the company founder Denis Twomey, said after 40 years in business this investment “marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter”.
“With this investment, a strong leadership team and a clear strategic vision, we are positioning Inform Nutrition for sustained growth and continued innovation and leadership in animal health and performance.”
Inform Nutrition said it holds approximately 22% of the Irish premix market. In addition to supplying feed mills, co-ops, and farmers throughout Ireland, the firm supplies over 60 international markets through its sister company, Mervue Laboratories.
As part of an earlier investment round, completed last year, Inform Nutrition spent €2m in advanced manufacturing technologies, including a new Concetti bagging machine, an automated raw-material storage system, a Promtek precision weighing system and extensive facility upgrades.
A new distribution hub in Watergrasshill was also opened.
