The chief executive of Limerick Chamber has resigned after just over a year since stepping into the role.

Michelle Gallagher joined the business group in September 2024, succeeding Dee Ryan, who stepped down to run in the Limerick mayoral election the previous summer.

Ms Gallagher has held senior leadership roles in multinational corporations, startups and SMEs, and has worked for more than 20 years across the medtech, life sciences, consumer electronics and aviation industries.

Announcing her resignation, Ms Gallagher said: "After careful consideration, I am announcing that I will be stepping down from my role as Chief Executive Officer of Limerick Chamber.

"As with all dynamic organisations, there are moments when strategic visions evolve in different directions."

The Limerick native added that it was a privilege to "lead the Chamber and work alongside such a talented team, a dedicated Board, and a passionate membership.

"I am proud of the progress we have made together and am confident that the organisation is well-positioned for continued success.

"I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone I have worked with and wish the Chamber and its members all the very best for the future," Ms Gallagher concluded.

In a statement, Limerick Chamber said Ms Gallagher will be stepping down with immediate effect, adding: "The decision reflects a mutual recognition of differing strategic priorities for the future.

"The Board of Directors expresses its sincere gratitude to Michelle Gallagher for their leadership and significant contributions during their tenure.

"To ensure continuity, the senior leadership team will manage day-to-day operations while the Board begins the process of identifying a new leader.

"We wish our departing CEO the very best in their future endeavours and remain committed to serving our members and the wider Limerick business community."
