Cork's Elbow Lane restaurant has reopened following a fire in early September, which caused external damage to the premises on Oliver Plunkett Street.
No injuries were caused in the blaze, which occurred on September 4, but damage occurred to a chimney and ducting. The restaurant and the adjacent Market Lane restaurant were both evacuated at the time, with the Market Lane reopening the next day as normal.
This week, the Elbow Lane Smokehouse & Brewery reopened with a temporary new menu called ‘Bites at Elbow Lane’. "While the grill gets a makeover and everything comes back up to full steam we are taking this opportunity to freshen things up and try out some new ideas on our menu,” said Harrison Sharpe, head chef of Elbow Lane.
"As we gear up to open fully, we are hoping to introduce some new diners to a taste of Elbow Lane with this more relaxed format," he said.
The Elbow Lane is part of the Market Lane Restaurant Group, which also includes Market Lane, goldie, ORSO and The Blackrock Castle Cafe. It has won a slew of awards since opening in 2014 including Best Casual Dining Munster, Best Employer in the Food & Drink industry and Best Restaurant Manager.
