Orsted have successfully installed the first wind turbines at the Farranrory onshore wind farm in Tipperary, which will have the capacity to provide enough power to supply 25,000 homes.

Located near Ballingarry, the onshore wind farm will be Orsted’s 22nd wind farm on the island of Ireland. When complete the nine
wind turbines will have capacity to supply 43.2 MW of renewable electricity.

“We are really proud to reach this milestone for turbine installation at Farranrory. Using recycled blades from our oldest windfarm to make marker posts for our newest windfarm brings the meaning of circular economy to the next level," said Orsted Ireland and UK vice president TJ Hunter.

The development is expected to be fully operational by the summer of 2026. In 2025, Cork-based Orsted Onshore Ireland is constructing 179.2 MW of additional renewable capacity in Ireland, including the company's first two Irish solar farms, bringing Orsted’s operational capacity across solar power and onshore wind across the 32 counties to over 550MW.

On Monday, Orsted priced its $9.42bn (€8bn) rights issue at 66.6 crowns (€8.90) per share, representing a 66.7% discount to the stock's closing price on Friday.

Earlier this month, Orsted won shareholder approval for the capital raise, which it needs to help fund US projects thrown into uncertainty by US president Donald Trump's opposition to the renewable energy source.
