Newly acquired Cork employee communications firm Workvivo has been named by Meta as a replacement for its own collaborative workspace software program which it has chosen to discontinue.

Founded in 2017, by John Goulding and Joe Lennon, Workvivo provides internal employee software allowing workers to communicate with one another, with its clients comprising industry leaders including Ryanair, Amazon and the Virgin Group.

The company has grown extensively since its inception and was acquired last year by US tech giant, Zoom which saw Workvivo's program incorporated into the video firm's existing platform. Financial details were not disclosed, however, it is understood the deal was worth more than €200m.

The Douglas-headquartered firm has now teamed up with Meta as the Facebook owner's only preferred migration partner with its own employee platform, Workplace, set to be discontinued.

The partnership will see Meta's Workplace and Workvivo provide migration tools for customers migrating to the Cork-founded firm, with Workvivo also offering additional implementation services to support customers’ transition.

Launched in 2016, Workplace has more than 7 million users, however, Meta said it would discontinue the product to focus on developing AI and metaverse technology.

Workplace will be phased out over the course of two years, Meta said, with customers still able to use the platform as usual until August 2025.

"We know that the news may be disruptive for Workplace from Meta customers, but we’re so excited about the opportunity to support and help them," said Workvivo co-founder and chief executive, John Goulding.

"Meta has made a huge impact in this market, and we believe that Workvivo is the natural choice for Workplace from Meta customers to transition their employee experience platform."

Eric S. Yuan, founder and chief executive of Zoom added: "Workvivo has seen momentous growth as organisations around the world are increasingly prioritizing the employee experience.

"We are excited to support Workplace from Meta’s customers and help them reach their goals of reaching and engaging employees – whether they’re desk or frontline workers.”
