SuperValu still top of the shopping list in Ireland
SuperValu remains the largest supermarket in Ireland, according to figures from Kantar Worldpanel.
The industry results show almost a quarter of Irish people buy their groceries in the Irish-run SuperValu chain.
The next most popular is Tesco which has 22.2% of the market share, while Dunne Stores is just behind with just over a fifth of Irish customers shopping there.
Cut price chains Lidl and Aldi round out the top five, with 11.2% and 10.9% market share each.
It also appears Irish people are heading to the shops more often - the average customer going to the shops 63 times in the last 12 weeks, up from 59 - but buying less each time, with the average trip now costing €21.60, down from €22.40 last year.
Lidl are also the fastest growing retailer with 43,000 more shoppers this year.
