Costs of Sony hack 'completely covered by insurance'

The boss of Sony Pictures has said a cyber attack on the Hollywood studio may end up being less of a disaster than first thought.

Chief executive Michael Lynton said the hack would be completely covered by insurance.

The FBI blames the attack on North Korea, in revenge for comedy movie The Interview, which depicts a fictitious assassination attempt on the country's leader Kim Jong-un.

Sony Pictures initially cancelled The Interview's release last month, after threats from hackersbelieved by the FBI to be linked to the secretive state.

The film, which is now showing in some US cinemas, is thought to have cost around €33m to make, and has made about €25.5m from online sales and rentals.
