Dubin Port has seen an increase in imports and exports of 7.3% in the first nine months of the year.

There has also been growth in ferry passenger traffic, by 5.5%. Almost 640,000 ferry passengers passed through the port between July and September.

Total throughput at the port to date this year was 23.1 million tonnes, just shy of the 23.6 million seen by the third quarter of 2007, the height of the boom.

It comes as an Bord Pleanala continues to hear plans for a major €200m redevelopment of the port.
