The boss of BNP Paribas has written to staff warning that it will be fined heavily by US authorities.

The French banking giant is expected to be given an $8.9bn fine for allegedly violating sanction rules.

BNP Paribas is accused of breaking sanctions against Iran, Sudan and Cuba between 2002 and 2009.
