IDA chief announces resignation

IDA chief executive Barry O'Leary has announced his resignation this morning.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, he said he intends to pursue other opportunities after a "difficult and demanding" few years.

The IDA said it helped create 13,367 jobs in 2013, through foreign direct investment.

The government agency has released new figures today, showing a net increase of 7,071 jobs, after job losses are taken into account.

IDA client firms now employ more than 161,000 people in Ireland, the highest number on record.
