Judge sets December date for Apple hearing

A judge in the US has set a date of December 6, 2012, for a court to hear Apple's request that eight of Samsung's smartphones be banned for sale.

Last Friday, a court decided that Samsung had copied elements of Apple's ipad and iphone and imposed a fine of $1bn.

Shares in Samsung Electronics rose overnight following the decision.
