Sarkozy unveils plans to introduce transaction tax

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has unveiled plans for new taxes he hopes will fix France's ailing economy and boost his credibility, ahead of an polls which show he's likely to lose the next election.

Sarkozy has not confirmed he will stand for re-election, but he gave his strongest hint yet he will be a candidate in the election in April.
