Planning permission granted for Chinese Hub in Athlone

Westmeath County Council has granted planning permission for a Chinese Hub in Athlone.

The plan by developers, Athlone Business Park Ltd, will provide a showspace for Chinese manufacturers to display their products to European and other international buyers.

The permission for phase one of five phases comes with 47 conditions.

The company hopes that two years of construction will begin in less two years.

It is predicted that the proposed build project could create up to 1,200 jobs with a further 1,500 permanent positions once complete.
