EC to propose suspending credit ratings of bailout countries

The European Commission is to propose suspending the credit ratings of countries receiving international bailouts.

The Markets Commissioner Michel Barnier says it would also take effect in situations where the ratings cause market instability.

Agencies, including Moody's, Fitch and Standard and Poor's, have come under criticism for adding fuel to the fire when they lower their ratings.
